The Animal Welfare League is offering a Low cost spay neuter program for permanent residents of Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland Counties. It is offered to any cat or dog owner who receives TANF (Temporary Aid For Needy Families), Medicaid Assistance or Food Stamps (Cardinal Card). The cost to the owner is $10.00 for a cat and $20.00 for a dog, the remaining costs, for the surgery and anesthesia only, will be paid for by the AWL, any other costs must be paid by the owner. Applications for the Low Cost Program can be obtained at the Animal Welfare Leagues Shop on Irvington Road in Kilmarnock Monday through Friday, 10 am 2 pm or mailed upon request. After the Application Form has been completed, return by mail to, The Animal Welfare League, P. O. Box 975, White Stone, Virginia 22578, with a check or money order, no cash please, along with a copy of only one of the assistance cards required for approval. A Certificate will then be mailed to the applicant confirming authorization for the surgical procedure. Owners must schedule the surgery and bring the Certificate of Approval with them the day of the surgery, please allow two weeks to receive authorization. All surgeries must be completed by the time the program expires on November 30, 2002.
