For those living below the poverty level, meat is the least available and most costly food item. Hunters for the Hungry is helping by providing high-protein, low-fat venison to our area’s food banks, soup kitchens, churches and other charities that provide food for the hungry.
Hunters for the Hungry takes deer donated by hunters, farmers, municipal
and property management efforts and processes the venison for distribution.
Processing costs average $30.00 per deer and each deer yields approximately
200 four-ounce servings. In 2002, we processed 266,456 pounds of deer meat.
Since we began in 1991, we have provided 6.6 million servings of venison
for those in need.
