THE JANET MARTIN BAND TO PERFORM
IN IRVINGTON
Janet Martin and her band will perform on Saturday, August 3 at 8 p.m.
on the Irvington Commons in a free concert sponsored by the Irvington Chamber
of Commerce and Village Improvement Association (ICC/VIA).
The Richmond guitarist and
vocalist is a favorite performer in the Irvington Concert on the Commons
series. Janet Martin has released two CDs and is currently at work on her
third. Her first CD, “Just Wakin’ Up” incorporates flavors of Celtic, new
age and folk music and was representative of her earlier work in a band
called The Rare. Her second CD “Cloud Cover” is more experimental and highlights
a time when Janet was expanding her style of songwriting. Both releases
have received praise from many national publications as well as airplay
in the U.S. and Europe.
As with all concerts on the Irvington Commons, the performance is free
and open to the public. At the concert, ICC/VIA will gratefully accept
donations to help defray some of the cost of this and other events throughout
the year. Folks who are interested in attending are encouraged to arrive
early, bring their family and friends, and enjoy a picnic on the Commons.
