28th Annual Mathews Market Days Festival

“Mathews: A unique square in America’s quilt”, is the theme for the 28th Annual Mathews Market Days Festival to be held on September 6th & 7th on the historic court green and in other designated locations around Mathews County.

For your enjoyment there will be over 60 booths displaying local arts and crafts. The food Court will feature seafood and other delicacies. Musical entertainment this year will begin on Friday evening. Saturday the music is heard inside and out with a street dance swinging into the night.

The winner and entries of the 2002 Mathews Market Days Poster Contest will be displayed. Proudly showoff your talent by entering today. The winning poster can be purchased during the festivities.

The Youth Corner is preparing some great events for this year such as a Talent Contest and a Skateboard Expo. Favorites will be back including the Second Annual Survive-O-Market Days, Ident A Kid, and the Pet Parade.

The Pet Parade is for all beloved pets no matter how large or small. We do strongly recommend they be taken home after the event and their families come straight back for
other entertaining activities.

There will be a Mathews Market Days 5K & 10K Run with a 2 mile fun walk to benefit the Mathews County Land Conservancy.

all book lovers there will be a book sale in the Orrel Annex Building directly behind the Mathews County Library.

Hunley’s Antique Gas Engine Show will be held to spark the interest of all motor enthusiasts. The exhibit includes a gristmill, sawmill, restored tractors and Model A’s.

As you can see there will be something of interest for anyone of all ages. For updates to the menu and other fun filled events associated with Mathews Markets Days watch for upcoming information in you local newspaper. Applications for booths, grants, poster contest, the run or walk, or other information check out the website at www.visitmathews.com or call Carole Lewis at the Mathews Extension Office at (804)725-7196.
