Following our successful gun dog handling classes last year, the Northern Neck Kennel Club is pleased to announce a series of four gun dog hunting/retrieving classes for those owners and dogs who are interested in learning more and/or improving their current skills. Classes will be on Saturdays from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m..
The objectives are: To learn the basics ˆ for both the dog and the handler ˆ of retrieving, and also what you can practice at home. To work on land and water retrieves. Experience quartering and trailing. An opportunity for practice.

     Dead ducks, simulated birds, and bumpers will be used, as well as blank ammunition. Handlers need to bring a good dog whistle and duck caller if you have one.

     We will do our very best to tailor the sessions for the experience levels of the participants (human & canine). The cost is $10 per dog per class, but Club members receive a 50% discount. Please complete the attached Registration Form and send it with your check (payable to the Northern Neck Kennel Club) to Roger Atkins, PO Box 238, Mollusk, VA 22517. 

     The classes will be conducted by Roy & Diane Sheppard and Roger & Elizabeth Atkins. Roy & Diane are NAHRA judges and all four instructors are active participants at all levels in NAHRA & AKC hunt tests.
Class dates are March 20, April 10, May 15 and June 19

     Please dress appropriately with good shoes/boots and in muted colors ˆ avoid white and other pale colors. It is suggested that you bring a chair (& lunch) with you. The classes will go on whatever the weather! All dogs must be kept in your vehicle except while in class, and make sure you have plenty of water and shade facilities for your dog, as well as for yourself! There will be an area to air your dog. Visitors are welcome. If you bring any children they must be kept under supervision (including being reasonably quiet!) at all times.

     All handlers will be expected to help in the training procedures such as blowing duck calls or throwing marks.
