Twenty one boats are already signed up to compete in Irvington’s third annual Carters Creek Boat Parade on Saturday, December 14, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m. Registrations have been received from Hank George, Norm Heller, Jack Hanky, Mark Hollingsworth, Ron Mihills, Norm Mosher, Tom & Jean Light, John Hunt (Chesapeake Bank), Ken Bransford (Bank of Lancaster), Lee Stephens, Bill Buhmann, Bill Westbrook, John Friday, Randy Stephens, Jeffrey Haynes, Kevin & Gail Aines, Bob Westbrook, Chris Gaenzle, David Rafetto, Jeff Branflick and Kellum Seafood.

The third annual Carters Creek Boat Parade is sponsored by the Irvington Chamber of Commerce & Village Improvement Association (ICC/VIA), the Tides Inn, and the Hope and Glory Inn. Scheduled for the evening of Saturday, December 14th, the show of lighted boats will leave The Tides Lodge and wind its way up the eastern branch of Carters Creek, turning around at Jack’s Cove and heading back to The Tides Inn. Judges will be aboard The Miss Ann, which will be anchored midway.

There will be several award categories covering large and small power and sailboats, and individual, yacht club and business entries. This year there is a new work-boat category with a cash prize. The much-coveted Mayor’s Cup, engraved with the name of the winner of Best in Show, was donated by The Town of Irvington and Mayor Alexander McDonald Fleet as a perpetual trophy to be passed on to this year’s winner. This and other awards will be presented at an Awards Ceremony and festive cocktail party for Captains and their crews at the Tides Inn immediately after the parade.

Registration forms and more information are available by contacting Hank George at 804-435-0169 or hank@kaballero.com, or by stopping-by Duncan & Drake in Irvington.

The Boat Parade is part of the holiday celebration that weekend, with events throughout the village of Irvington.
