Fast Times on the Rivers ~ Find your favorties online at our website
By Janet Abbott Fast

More new happenings with Chesapeake Style! We are enthusiastic and excited about our new, updated website.

It is in the process of becoming more interactive. For example, folks can visit the site and type in their own personal classified ads. There is a category for everyone. The ad will stay on the site for 30 days and automatically cycle off.

We have recipes online as well. Recipes are already there and, in time, past recipes from Chesapeake Style’s back issues will be archived. Visit the site, find the recipes which interest you, and print them out.
You are able to shop—well, locate the best places to shop in the Chesapeake Bay Region. The “shops”, aka ads, are listed under the headings of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.

Those businesses on the website have had or will have Focus on Business articles written about them. In time, folks will also be able to click and bring up the articles and print them out. Advertisers on the website have signed six or 12 month contracts and this is a free service to them. When they renew their contracts, another article is written.

We also have links to other web sites, and expect to eventually include reciprocal links with our regular advertisers.

You can find your favorite writer, click on his or her name, and, again, in time, you will be able find their archived writings. In case you have missed a chapter in Elizabeth Stokes, Life in the Alleys, they will be there.

Or if there is a health issue you saw, but cannot locate, HealthSense articles written by Joy Brenda Burch, will be in the archives. Any of our monthly columns will be there. If you are interested in what’s happening on the hunting and fishing front, our experts, Chelly and Steve Scala, not only have a monthly column in Chesapeake Style, but also there will be articles online, not published in the magazine.

There’s more, but we’re not going to give you all the secrets right now. Just keep visiting www.chesapeakestyle.com and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Last month Chesapeake Style won a third place in the picture story category, in the VPA contest. The winner was a photo essay of the Richmond County YMCA golf outing, published in the July issue. Yours truly was the winner. We also learned that our August issue took another first place piva (Printing Industries of Virginia) award. Three prizes in three years!
