About the Cover:  Fall Colors on the River, oil on canvas by Jerry Spangler Having grown up in a family with artistic interests, Jerry Spangler planned to have a career in commercial art when he came out of the Navy in 1964. Those plans were foiled and in 1994, Jerry finally picked up his paint brush again and rediscovered his old flame. Combining his love and appreciation of outdoor scenery with his talent with a paint-brush, Jerry began painting with acrylics.
This painting is of a house in White Stone that’s behind Robbins Boatyard. “I liked the fall colors and the boat docked in front of the house. I participate in local art shows, I’ll be at the Irvington Farmers Market each month till December, Holly Point Seafood Fest in October.” He is the first artist ever from this area to be the featured artist at the Norfolk Harborfest for 2008. Jerry’s paintings can be seen at the Studio Gallery of the Rappahannock Art League in Kilmarnock and Liberty at Compass Quay, Urbanna. His website is www.jerryspangler.com

Chesapeake Style is an award winning colorful classy magazine serving folks in the Chesapeake Bay Region. It began as an idea in early 1998, and burst forth in full glory and color with the Premier issue the following August, 1998.

The group of writers and photographers continues to grow as the appealing magazine continues to become more popular. The writers also helped to distribute more than 100,000 copies of the magazine eleven months of the year when it was published in paper. The magazine changed to online only in early 2002.

Chesapeake Style not only celebrates the region, past present and future, but also contains articles about and a calendar of local celebrations.
