On the subject of oil
We most all agree
Greed is being subjected
On you and on me.
Prices have soared
To an all time high
It hurts the whole nation,
We can not deny...

More to fill the cars.
More to fill the trucks.
More to fill a SUV,
Pull out a hundred bucks
The rich are getting richer
The poor have less and less
The rich need a new Mercedes
The poor must walk I guess.

The President says he can’t do much.
I think that is nothing new
Alternative fuels have been suggested
Since about 1972
If they were serious we would have had them
A long, long time ago
But of course that would hurt the oil profits,
So it’s this same old status quo.

Greed is killing the nation
Greed is harming our planet
We can’t ignore our resources
Yet we take them so for granted
It’s time for a better solution
We can’t go on the same old way
The time is now, to start
And I hope it is today.
