Nature
By Nancy W. Vickers

It seems like Mother Nature
Is putting on her show
As newborn Mallard ducklings
Go darting to and fro.

The stately swan floats down the cove
And makes it very clear
He has no inhibitions
When we feed him from our pier.

Squirrels can reach our birdseed
By hanging upside down.
They unhook the feeder
And knock it to the ground!

It’s fun to watch the baby squirrels
Play tag around the tree.
A nesting osprey spreads her wings—
An awesome sight to see.

The Northern Neck is lovely,
Especially in the spring,
When we can watch the soaring birds
And listen as they sing.
