The
Anonymous Girl
By Dustin Smith

9th Grade
Her world is just an empty space,
Nothing’s made of silk or lace.
When they push by they see only a face,
They see nothing’s left a trace.
Her eyes and thoughts are as black as night,
Windows no longer let in the light.
She has fought her battles with all of her might,
Now it’s the end, no more will she fight.
As the moon peeks over her tears,
She sits and thinks about all of the years.
All of her hidden, unspoken fears,
And listens quietly as the end nears.
No more lying awake and crying,
No more living in a world full of dying.
No more dealing with the painful lying,
Time is really all she was buying.
She lays down and accepts her fate,
Everything that’s come has come too late.
With Hell’s demons, she has a date,
And her breathing is falling at a rapid rate.
With eyes closed and hands by her head,
No one will remember the words that she said.
Her winged hopes have fallen like lead,
And the rest of the world has left her for dead.
