Life In The Northern Neck
By Tia Robinson 9th Grade

As I sit and watch the sunrise
While I’m relaxing on my deck,
I’m ever so very glad to be
Living in the ole Northern Neck.
Our skies are such a beautiful blue
No smoke, no smog---just fresh air,
The many trees stand so tall and strong,
As if they’re proud to be there
It’s where some homes are spread miles apart
And some homes are right next door,
There’re churches, businesses, and stores too
And room for so much more.
There’re cows, pigs, and chickens on farms,
There’re friendly people, and a slower-paced life,
There’re fivers, waters, forests, and woods
Where we hunt, fish, and hike; free of strife.
In winter, spring, summer or fall
No matter what the season,
You can find a peaceful get-away
No matter what the reason.
And then at night when the moon goes down
And the stress of the day is in check,
It’s these times when I focus on how glad
I am to be living in the Northern Neck.
